Have you ever felt like you’re creating content endlessly, on multiple platforms, with different topics all the time? Feeling like you’re literally burning out from thinking of new topics to talk about on your Linkedin, Medium, Instagram, Tiktok, Substack, Twitter?!
I can safely say most of us have been there, done that. And there’s nothing wrong with that, except going around like a headless chicken (okay morbid much) poking your head into pointless directions. I know, that was exactly me before I formulated a system for myself when I create, before I went insane.
Don’t get me wrong, I love creating. Videos, articles, writing short notes, pointers, sharings…absolutely love it. But we all face the creator’s dilemma time to time where you feel like a content piece that you put out, only belongs to that channel and nowhere else. That’s where I made the mistake, and I’m sharing my experience with you so that YOU don’t have to.
Instead of creating a different piece of content per platform, here’s what I do now:
Have a master calendar of all topics I will be creating for
Within each topic, I break it down into key points before even going deeper
With the key points, I repurpose them into various platforms depending on what suits best
Once that is done and broken down, the creation process then begins
Sounds simple, right? Here’s a real-life example of how it’s being done.
Main Topic: Repurpose Like a Pro: Turn One Post Into Five.
Key points:
Talk about burn out when creating too many types of content of different topics
Personal story of how I used to create and how I made that mistake
Breakdown learnings into actions today
How to save time while creating quality content because quality > quantity
Apply it for yourselves today CTA
Platform split:
Full article: Substack + Medium
Point 1: Substack note
Point 2: Tiktok video, Linkedin post
Point 3: Linkedin post, Substack note
Point 4: Tiktok video
Point 5: Substack note
And the last thing to do is to slot them into your calendar. In this case, I’ve only limited myself to 3-4 platforms to distribute the topic, and yes, it’s already a lot. But I do hope this gives a clear, direct example of how you can repurpose 1 singular topic into multiple platforms without having to crack your head over millions of topics, because we’re all about efficiency here, aren’t we?
Whether you’re creating for your personal brand, your own avid interest to create, or for a brand, this method will help you streamline your creation 10x just by repurposing your topic, so start from there, break it down systematically, and things will flow as it should.
It starts today.
